Enjoy a holiday in real Spain in the lovely Spanish village of Benamargosa - Andalucia

Benamargosa - a typical white washed Andalucian village just 16 km (10 miles) from the resort of Torre del Mar, and only 60 km (38 miles) from Malaga airport, 45 km of which is motorway. It is set in a valley of orange, lemon and avocado trees by the side of the river of the same name, and although only having a population of about 1500, has everything to make a holiday in the "Real Spain."

The village has a superb municipal pool with children's pool and gardens, sixteenth century church, two supermarkets, three banks, post office, bars /restaurants, baker, butcher and fishmonger, chemist and medical centre, and a weekly market.

Granada and its famous Alhambra can be reached in about two hours, and in two and a quarter hours you could be skiing at Pradollano - Sierra Nevada (altitude over 10,000feet).

Within a short distance are the hilltop villages of Cutar and Comares (which also has its own pool). Panoramas of the striking landscape can be seen from these viewpoints of the Sierras down to the Costa del Sol. A few kilometres inland finds Lake Vinuela, where there is fishing and sailing. The villages around the lake - Vinuela, Alcaucin, and Periana - are also worth exploring, and there are breathtaking drives into the sierras which reach over 2000m (6000 feet).

 The Arabian fortress town of Velez-Malaga, a short distance away, is steeped in tradition and has a bustling shopping area.

A new shopping mall with hypermarket and twelve screen cinema complex is located on the edge of the town - it also has a large Spanish equivalent of Marks & Spencer.

The resort of Torre del Mar has all that you would expect of a Mediterranean resort - good beaches, bars, restaurants, a waterpark and the new Baviera golf course.

Not too far away along the coast is the resort of Nerja, with its famous caves and "Balcon de Europa", and the historic hillside village of Frigiliana with spectacular views back down to the sea.
